I’ve been turning through pages of words that I wrote
Searching for something that will lead me to believe
That love is based on more than hope
Something I can perceive

See I get scared when I’m laying in the dark
Reach out my hand to find where you are
That touch, when my fingers meet your skin
Tells me that’s where you’ve always been

It feels so good to be like this
Beneath the sheets safe from the wind
Captivated by the long awaited kiss
I’ll close my eyes to watch the truth bend

When you go, it feels so strange
The way the time can never seize to change
Minutes into hours, before you know the new day has come
Well, it looks like I’ve won

It’s not like I knew what my inner thoughts could bring
A whole new word for me to sing
Between two pages that I’ve pulled apart
I’ve learned it’s best if you live from your heart

So I can rest easy to know that you’re alright
Under your covers wrapped up so tight
Beneath them is still too far
But at least I’ll know where you are
